Software EU Pummels Microsoft With $1.4B USD Fine

The United States is still, and will be for quite some time, the world's largest single economy. The EU would not likely engage in a tradewar with the US that it will lose. The Eurozone is larger when combining total output of all member nations, but the unity ends there. When France and Germany can come to terms with their own economic policies, along with the other smaller member nations, into a true united economic entity where elected officials of one nation cannot dictate the economic policies of others (among the reasons why it took a very long time for certain nations to join the EU, or reject the euro), then you'll have a proper single economic entity. That won't happen until Europe becomes quite literally, "The United States of Europe" where governments merge. .

A selection of the reactions we received from readers on our online comment board are printed at right. The comments reflect some of the enthusiasm - and caution - that residents feel on the issue of expanded gambling, which Gov. Steve Beshear has proposed to generate revenue for state programs.

The discussion began after word came Northern Kentucky-based casino operator Bill Yung of Columbia Sussex Corp. had bought the property, which most recently had housed the Jillian's entertainment complex, for $7 million dollars. The brewery is located off 12th Street in Covington, just east of I-71/75 and slightly north of a planned St. Elizabeth Hospital building.

CJH 3: All-Star Picks, Derek Fisher, Heroes and more...

All Star Selections, a Defense of Jazz Fans Booing Derek Fisher, and why "Heroes" is the single most overrated show on Television.

It’s the time of the year where NBA pundits are picking their all-star teams and explaining why their players should be in. What’s stunning to me every time that I read a picks column is that they all seem to assume that they can select the starters and the reserves as if the fan vote never happened. This is convenient in years when the fans make irrational selections, like when they select popular players that have been injured all season or when the Chinese display a stunning cultural knack for democracy by ballot stuffing for Yao Ming, but does very little for explaining what the All-Star team actually could or should look like because they guarantee they’ll get the starters wrong right off the bat.

Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East 2008 is the only show of its kind serving the wider Middle East, Indian Sub-continent and CIS regions. More than 30 countries are participating this year, with over 300 participants coming from the Middle East and North Africa, Levant, Pan-Arab, Europe, North American and South East Asian countries. This year's heavy turnout reflects a 35 per cent growth for the show and the rapid growth and potential of the region's signage and outdoor publicity industries.

Warriors tame Tigers

We didn't play our best game today...I think I attribute it to first-game excitement and jitters. We have a target on our back this year. We only lost one game last year and they're coming after us. We tried to tell the kids that and we didn't really have all that of an intense practice yesterday. I don't know what that's all about, but they came out and, in the end, did the job today. I'm not really proud of what we did in regulation."The first quarter flew by as each team traded turnovers. Warrior quarterback Matt Koster threw an early interception prior to Scott Fayhee diving on a loose ball for the Warrior defense. Koster was able to hook up with former Monmouth Fighting Scot Dante Daniels from 7 yards out to put the Warriors on the board first early in the second quarter.

Broadband for Brookfield?

Standing room only at Brookfield Elementary School as people packed the cafeteria for Town Meeting Day.

"This is a yearly spring vacation to come out and see what's going on in the town," said resident George Buck.

Among the usual questions of tax rates, road construction and purchasing a new fire truck a question never before considered. Should these voters support an effort to bring broadband Internet service to their town? A non-profit group called EC Fiber wants to model the effort of two year-old Burlington Telecom. Two dozen communities in east central Vermont are considering that question this Town Meeting Day.

"From a personal standpoint I would be thrilled to have broadband because dial up is just not doing it for us anymore," said Linda Runnion.

This year may see some surprises

Without an outright odds-on favourite destined to sweep the soiree, the big night may need those newly returned guild workers to rewrite history in a hurry.

The Oscars represent a confluence of artistry and emotion, timely urgency and accidental resonance - coupled with an ever-changing Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences demographic. There are more women, more minorities and more young people in the club than ever before. The days of automatic wins for the establishment-friendly epic are over, but that doesn't mean Oscar tradition won't come into play when the prizes are handed out.

That said, here's my look at how things could go down Sunday night.

Fast-Changing Technologies Make Producing and Publishing Videos Harder ...

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Advances in technology have enabled consumers to create more interesting and sophisticated videos to share with friends and family, yet ironically, technology has caused as much confusion and frustration as opportunities for the average PC user. More often than not, only sophisticated videophiles are able to take advantage of anything more than the most basic features. According to certified technical support experts from SupportSpace, an online service dedicated to providing consumers with a new standard of tech support, many consumers lack the knowledge about the operation of their equipment, the software that comes with their computer, and video formats, making publishing and sharing video frustrating and time confusing. Basic knowledge and a few simple steps can help users avoid the common mistakes that keep them from capturing and sharing their memories.
