Hate Crime at a Quaker Campus?

This kind of violence is rare at a Quaker college," said Aaron Fetrow, dean of student life, in a Webcast by the newspaper. “We will not tolerate this violence or the verbal abuse."

Court documents examined by the newspaper reported complaints that three students were attacked at Bryan Hall, a dormitory, and that the attackers used their fists, feet, and brass knuckles, and hurled racial slurs. The attack involved “at least 15 members of the football team," according to the police report. Three members of the football team were arrested and later released on $2,000 bond. They could not be reached and there were no reports on their version of the incident.

Awartani said that he and the other two students were beaten by assailants who hurled racial epithets and called them “dirty terrorists." Awartani is a student at North Carolina State University and said that he and his two friends, who are students at Guilford, had attended a Quaker school in the West Bank before coming to the United States.

Fantasy sports chat transcript

Nick Fruscello: Welcome again to Fantasy Friday! This upcoming Tuesday is the NHL trading deadline and it could impact a lot of teams in the NHL and make a big impact in your fantasy league. Vinnie Prospal, Rob Blake, Mats Sundin, Olli Jokinen, Marian Hossa are just a few of the bigger names getting thrown around. Big names getting traded into better situations can be exactly what you're looking for going into the fantasy hockey playoffs. In 02, Pavel Bure was slumping and was traded to the Rangers. Bure went on a tear scoring 12 goals in 12 games and getting 20 points overall. A huge boost for his owners at this critical part of the season and a huge boost for anyone that had his linemates. Earlier in the week Peter Forsberg's agent said he wasn't coming back this season, but just recently I heard that Forsberg IS still planning on playing this year, so keep your finger on that add button for Forsberg.

A geek’s trip to Capitol Hill on Network Management

Melvin Ammori, General Counsel, Free Press David Burstein, Editor, DSLPrime George Ou, Editor at Large, ZDNet Haruka Saito, Counselor for Telecom, Embassy of Japan Christopher S. Yoo, Professor of Law and Communications, University of Pennsylvania

Christopher Yoo - After a brief introduction by Scott Wallsten who explained that the order of the presentations will be reverse alphabetical order, Christopher S. Yoo kicked off his presentation. Professor Yoo explained that networks, like roads, aren't built for everyone to use them at the same time. Yoo gave the example that if a person wants to know how fast he can travel on a freeway, he wouldn't know until he got there because we can't predict exactly how many other people will be on the road at the same time. Yoo explained the difficulty in projecting network capacity and that we can't always be right when determining whether more capacity or network management was the answer.

JVC Everio GZ-MG275

JVC is something of a pioneer when it comes to hard disk-based camcorders, with nearly a two-year head start on the majority of its competitors. While other manufacturers were sitting idly on the fence, the Nippon veteran aggressively pushed forward with its HDD format; and has subsequently had extra time to iron out all the kinks. Sitting snugly in the middle of its Everio range, the GZ-MG275 offers a good set of features for a standard-def camera, including a 40 gigabyte hard drive, 2.18 megapixel sensor and SDHC/SD recording capabilities. However, with an RRP of $1200, some may find it a little overpriced. (Indeed, for a few hundred dollars more you could pick up a high-definition model with all the bells-and-whistles; including a beefier hard drive.)

Design-wise, the GZ-MG275 is almost identical to its cheaper HDD brethren; the GZ-MG145 and GZ-MG135.
